HRI’s PhD Student Jessica Maclean won Best Oral Presentation at the joint scientific meeting of the Australian Vascular Biology Society (AVBS), the Australia/New Zealand Microcirculation Society (ANZMS) and the Asia/Australia Vascular Biology Meeting (AAVBM).
Jessica's winning presentation was entitled the ‘Investigation of Recanalization and Cerebral Perfusion with Adjunctive Thrombolytic Therapies in the iCAT In Vivo Model of Ischemic Stroke’ and attributes her success to her research group, Thrombosis.
“I was excited and surprised to receive Best Oral Award and thank the organisers of AVBS for the opportunity to present our work in such a positive and engaging environment. I particularly want to thank all team members involved in this project, with special thanks to Professor Shaun Jackson, Associate Professor Simone Schoenwaelder, Mr Benjamin Hofma and Dr Amelia Tomkins.”
The event was co-chaired by a national organising committee including HRI researchers Simone Schoenwaelder and Sian Cartland, and involved multiple presentations from a diverse range of HRI specialists. More than 130 researchers from all over the world including NZ, Canada, US, Korea, Singapore, Japan and China attended this Joint Meeting of Vascular Biology.
“I really enjoyed the AVBS conference and learning from senior researchers such as Dr Connie Wong, Dr Paul Kubes and Professor Michael Hickey, just to name a few. I found the AVBS a great place for ECR to meet and ask questions of the established scientists and be inspired with new ideas and techniques for my own research.”
